Assembly by 2 people was recommended, but I have only me, so I put all pieces on my dining room table and was able to put it tog
ether by myself... with only one screw-up: I initially put the top of the bookshelf on upside-down. Thus, no place to put part P1, which must be screwed into two tiny holes in the "correct" side (the underside) of the top. This was operator error so I could not fault the instructions. Also, make sure you hammer the nails into the back cover piece with the shipping labels facing you. The BLACK side should show through the front of the book-case. ...also operator error. I love this piece of furniture. It was exactly what I needed for a particular place in my office.
